Camping in Cheverny and home again

As promised, the holiday post…

1) On Wednesday, we visited the superb Zooparc de Beauval. It was possibly one of the best zoos we’ve ever been to, and I saw okapis for the first time!

2) We celebrated eight years of having our wonderful wee small boy with us on Thursday – he’s not so wee and small anymore, but he’s still wonderful! Happy eighth birthday Aidan!

3) Aidan’s birthday dinner was a three course meal, which included camping pizzas for starters, coq au vin for main, and a beautiful French patisserie for dessert.

4) Friday was spent playing crazy golf in the morning, and swimming in the afternoon. Aidan learned to dive properly for the first time, and Megan proved she’s just as much of a gymnast in the water as out of it, by learning to turn underwater somersaults.

5) On Saturday we struck camp, and headed off towards our evening ferry. The highlight of the journey was our drive through Paris, taking in Notre Dame, the Grand Palais, the Eiffel Tower and ending with the Champs Elysees, and driving the famous roundabout around the Arc de Triomphe. We didn’t have time to stop, but the kids were awestruck nonetheless!

6) We arrived at our hotel late on Saturday night, but it was bliss to relax in a long hot bath, and sleep in a comfy bed!

7) The long drive back to Scotland went smoothly – in fact, the kids behaved beautifully during all four legs of our epic tour to France. We’re so proud of them!

8) To be welcomed home with Mum’s yummy roast beef dinner.

9) Home at last, and a cup of hot tea, made with Scottish water – you can’t beat it!

10) It was lovely to be able to take time over unpacking and organising and washing and sorting… that was what Monday was all about.

About Carolyn

Then, I joined a community of knitters sharing my progress on what I was knitting that week. Now, after a long hiatus, I'm back to share an unusual new knitting project...
