Snow, bless you, and warm.

1) As I drive east, I find the snow. (We seem to be in one of the few areas of the country not to be hit by snow in the last week or so.) It caps the hills, carpets the grass, and turns the world into a winter wonderland.

2) I sneeze just as I walk past a couple of ladies in the shop (the cold I’ve been fighting for several days has got the upper hand today 🙁 ). “Bless you”, they say.  I smile, and thank them. It didn’t alter the progression of the cold, but it made me feel better 🙂 .

3) The comforting warmth of a hot wheatie.

Walk in the Trossachs

1) Friday was fun – my friend and I checked out a new cafe in the morning, and then I spent the afternoon in class with A and M.  It was great to put faces to their new teachers, and to see the fun things they get up to, while they’re at school.

2) We went for a walk in the Trossachs on Saturday – it was stunningly beautiful, if somewhat wet underfoot (and we won’t say anything about the midges…)!

3) Church, followed by an afternoon nap, then my brother joined us for a non-traditional Sunday dinner of homemade pizza. A lovely day 🙂 .

A circle of hills, perfect day, and listening.

1) Solas is nestled in the heart of the Southern Uplands. A is delighted that we are encircled by hills.

2) A day filled with wonderful music, poetry, thought-proving talks, and hilarious drama. Loving it!

3) I sit reading quietly in my tent, as the kids settle to sleep. From my solitude, I can hear the quiet chatter from surrounding tents, the evening chorus from the birds, the gentle patter of raindrops and the music from Aurora (main stage).

Clear skies, cuddles, and the end of the day

1) It’s been a while, but my view of the snow-sprinkled Ochils today was not shrouded by mist or cloud, but clear from one end of the Forth Valley to the other.

2) Cuddles from my not-so-small boy :-).

3) Moments of reflection – today I realised afresh just how much I appreciate taking these few moments to look back over the day and discover the good and the beautiful in it.

2010: a beautiful year

As 2010 draws to a close, it’s time to look back on what turned out to be a pretty crazily busy year. Some good things from the year:

1) We’re back in Scotland, fully settled in, and sure we’re where we’re meant to be.

2) Megan started Primary One, and Aidan is in Primary Three – they are both happy and settled there, and it’s great to see how much they are progressing both academically and socially. We’re very proud of them.

3) K and I were part of our church’s Holiday Club committee this year – a great event, attended by over 100 children. We’re inspired and excited, and looking forward to Holiday Club 2011.

4) I loved being part of the Praise Gathering (Edinburgh) choir earlier this year. Fantastic to be part of a 400-strong choir.

5) We visited Norway, the beautiful Isles of Mull and Arran, and Disneyland Paris this year. All very different, but lovely.

6) We went to the first ever Solas festival this year – hopefully the beginning of a new family tradition.

7) K and I went to Greenbelt for the first time in years – so so so good to be back.

8) We’ve climbed a few mountains, although not as many as we’d have liked!

9) K and I celebrated our tenth Wedding Anniversary this year 🙂 🙂 !

10) We’ve caught up with old friends, and made new ones. Loving it!

All in all, we’ve had a very busy, happy and blessed 2010, and I’m so grateful for that. Looking forward to all that 2011 may bring xxx
